Koobface Spread Christmas Virus via Facebook

The predicted Koobface virus spreader has returned to launch the action. This time, trying to ensnare Facebook users through the lure of Christmas.

Through description officially launched on Monday (7/12/2009), Symantec Security Response observed a new campaign that involves posting messages through Facebook profiles with a direct link to a fake Facebook page or a page a fake video.

"Users will be offered a file called setup.exe which may be upgraded or Flash Player free antivirus which ironically diiming lure to protect users from Koobface," said the Symantec.

According to them, each of Koobface message will contain a link that when clicked, take users to a Facebook page or open a page of a Christmas-themed video.

Fake Facebook postings about almost all have a sentence and the same character is written :

I caan't ffall asleepp affter viewwing thiss videeo. I haven'tt seenn aanything liike this
I can''t falll aslleep aftter viiewing thhis vvideo. I havven't seeen aanything likee thhis
