Facebook is rumored to be building a data center that will support the performance of the largest social networking site in the world. To build, Facebook must spend up to $ 18 million. Launched by Biz Journal, Friday (22/1/2010), the Facebook did not deny this. They said it will build a data center in Prineville, by spending as much territory 147,000 square meters.
"Probably we will wake up in Prineville for many things that support, such as climate and environmental conditions for the use of renewable energy sources. However, we still have to do a preview first," said Director of Operations for Facebook, Tom Furlong.
If successfully developed, this is the first data center the company's Mark Zuckerberg. Later, the data center will become a place of storage and conducting information posted by 350 million Facebook users.
Later, this data center will require approximately 200 people working for 12 months during construction, and an additional 35 people working full-time when the data center has been officially in operation.
Besides relying on the server through a cooling process in the climate Prineville, Facebook also will use the cooling power management technology to create innovative energy intake as efficient as possible. In fact, Facebook plans to become the data center as the most efficient in America.
Reaching Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is a target that will do Facebook in the next few years.
